Spencer Street Water Tower Clock
Copamate Products was awarded the contract to refurbish the water tower clock in October 2013. It is a great honor to be a part of refurbishing this historical masterpiece over the coming months before the clock is to be relocated to its new home in Southern Cross Station 2014. A classic timepiece will be brought into Melbourne’s life.
Copamate removed the clock from Scienceworks grounds late 2013 before relocating to a factory in north Melbourne. Months will be spent refurbishing the clock to its former glory as years of exposure have seen the clock deteriorate, in particular the wooden sections.
The water tower clock was erected at Flinders St Station in 1883 keeping Melbourne on time before been relocated to Spencer St in 1910. It stood for 50 years before been brought down and bought by a private party. It was until 1999 that the clock was relocated to Science works where it stood until late 2013.
